Historical and cultural context of ceramic modeling; importance of volume and form.

Clay classification, characteristics, types; basic precautions; conditioning, shrinkage, drying, recycling.

Modeling tools proper use of tools.

Modeling techniques pinch, coils, slabs; creating pieces with colored/textured clays.

Decorative techniques on unfired clay engraving, relief, textures, inlays, perforations.

The world of color oxides and colorants.

Engobes preparation, viscosity, application methods; decorative techniques with engobes: layering, sgraffito, brush, resist and burnishing.

Practical application all techniques applied to course pieces, tiles, and specially prepared clay pieces for decoration.

Glazes oxides and colorants, application methods.

Firing overview of firing process and curves.

Students from beginners to those with some experience seeking to expand skills.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 14:30.

The course is generally conducted in Spanish but can be bilingual in English for international students.

Reduced class size maximum 7 students.
